The Oil Mill Pianura del Maestrale was born in 1972 in Simaxis, a small village in the province of Oristano. Since then it has carriedout the processing activity of olive oil under contract, working first at the manifacturing plant in Simaxis and since October 2012 in the new factory site located in the industrial area of Siamanna. Over the years the company has always worked onto provide solutions and modernization in order to achieve a greater quality of the final product.
In the first years of operation (up to 1980) the company has worked with a traditional system consisting of a mill with granite top and two presses, as well as the oil separator. A very slow plant and with low production capacity. In 1981 there was a renewal and the traditional system was replaced by a continuous cycle plant. This solution alloweda more rapid processing of olives and led to a considerable increase of the quality of the final product.
From 2003 to 2010 the company has replaced most of the mill machinery. In fact it has changed from a normal continuous cycle system to a modern plant in continuous cold cycle fully automated, which has led to a further improvement of the quality and quantity of production.
The continuous increase in customers and the search for the highest quality standards of the product, has led the oil mill, in October 2012 , to move to the industrial warehouse in Siamanna, in the province of Oristano.
This has allowed to reachthe adequate spaces to be used for the discharge of the raw material and also for the storage , processing and packaging of oil. There are also areas dedicated to the management of by-products (pomace and vegetable water) that allowed processing without time constraints (no sound input problems).
In recent years the company has continued to strengthen its production capacity, raising the efficiency of the production process and paying attention to the use of clean energy through the installation of a photovoltaic system. Furthermore, through the purchase of a pneumatic conveyor andof a metal silos for the collection and storage of the pits, the cycle will be completed by reducing to a minimum percentage the disposal of waste (water and pomace) in soils.
With the introduction of this new equipment, the company has developed the branch of the marketing of extra virgin olive oil, average and flavoured, so far sacrificed to the transformation of olives under contract.
Thanks to technological innovation it has been possible to increase the production capacity and significantly raising the technical level of the plant, resulting in higher quantity and a higher quality product and in line with customers who cares for the organoleptic characteristics of the oil , that will be marketed directly and through wholesalers.
